Grandma's gingerbread
Ingredients:
- 1/2 kg Cane sugar
- 4 Eggs
- 4 tbsp. honey
- 2 tbsp rum
- 1 pkg. gingerbread spice
- 1 tbsp. baking soda
- 250 g grated nuts
- 600 g rye flour
Preparation:
Beat the eggs, cane sugar, honey, rum and gingerbread spice in a bowl until frothy and then leave to stand overnight. Add the flour, baking soda and nuts, mix into a dough and knead the dough. Then roll out the dough to a thickness of approx. 5-7 mm and cut out shapes of your choice. Brush the shapes with egg and bake at 180° for approx. 5-10 minutes.
