Winter barbecuing
Enjoy the outdoors when it gets boring inside!
5 tips for perfect winter barbecuing
Preheat the barbecue properly:
Cold weather prolongs the heating time. Allow an extra 10–15 minutes for the barbecue to build up enough heat—this is especially important for gas or charcoal barbecues.
Keep the lid closed!
Heat is precious in winter. Keep the lid closed as much as possible while barbecuing so that the heat doesn't escape. This will ensure that the food cooks more evenly.
Choose suitable food:
Opt for meat and sausages with a short cooking time – e.g., steaks, chops, or marinated chicken pieces. Vegetables wrapped in aluminum foil also cook quickly and taste delicious.
Choose a wind-protected spot:
Place the grill in a sheltered spot, e.g., near a house wall (at a distance). This keeps the flame stable and the grill loses less heat.
Safety first:
Make sure the surface is non-slip and there is sufficient lighting. Gloves not only protect against the cold, but also against heat and sparks.
With a little preparation, winter barbecuing can be a real highlight – just give it a try and enjoy!
