With float or water ball
To successfully target trout in your waters with a float or water ball, we recommend a fast-action rod measuring 2.40m or 2.70m in length and with a casting weight of up to 40g. We also recommend a lightweight fishing reel with a rear or front drag. This combination is complemented by the appropriate trout target line with a diameter between 0.18 and 0.28mm, depending on the size of the trout you expect to catch. This set is rounded off with water balls or suitable floats such as those from our trout set or floats from the universal or target fish range, with a breaking strain between 1.5 and 6 grams. Rubber or thread stoppers are also used to secure the float, as well as appropriate shot weights, barrel swivels with snap hooks, and trout target fish hooks. Recommended bait includes single earthworms, dung worms, maggots, bee maggots, trout dough, salmon eggs, or tiny baitfish.
With the Sbirolino
For successful large trout fishing with the Sbirolino, we recommend a 3.90 m match rod with a casting weight of 3-15 g, combined with a light reel. Fluorocarbon line is recommended for the more elusive big fish. Sbirolinos weighing 5-20 g are a perfect match for this tackle combo and can be cast to extreme distances. A plastic bead, Sbirolino anti-twist swivel, and a 2.5 m trout leader specially designed for Sbirolino fishing are used. Trout dough, bee maggots, soft baits, flies, or our Trout Wobblers are used as bait when trolling.
How does a Sbirolino work
There are two numbers on the Sbirolino. The first number indicates the casting weight. The higher the number, the further you can cast. The casting weight is usually between 3 and 15 g. The second number indicates the sinking weight. The Sbirolino is made of a buoyant material such as wood, plastic or foam. There is either a weight built into the buoyancy body or the buoyancy body has a different weight in water than in air. A Sbirolino 0 has no weight and therefore floats on the water surface. A Sbirolino 4 has a sinking weight of 4 g and sinks somewhat slowly, while an Sbirolino 8 has a sinking weight of 8 g and sinks to the bottom relatively quickly.
