FAIE Info: All previous voltmeters only measure the fence voltage without animal contact. However, this voltmeter shows the fence voltage when an animal comes into contact - only if this is over 2000 V will your animals be sufficiently deterred.

What is important about an electric fence is not the open-circuit voltage, but the voltage that the animal effectively feels when touched. This animal contact is simulated using a resistor that can be switched on. The voltage read with the resistance switched on indicates what the animal really feels. It's easy to see if there are any problems in the fence that are preventing the effective flow of electricity. These include, above all, poorly conductive strands and tapes, poor connections and inadequate grounding.
Without a connected load resistor, the voltmeter is suitable for all measurements of fence voltage, device voltage or checking grounding.
