Making beeswax candles
Materials - what you need:
- Pure beeswax candles
- Napkin
- Scissors
- Possibly a dark ballpoint pen
- Tealight
- Teaspoon (stainless steel)
- Underlay for work protection
1. Preparing the napkin
Once you have chosen your motif, separate the printed layer of the napkin from the lower layers. Cut out the motif or individual parts of the motif. When choosing colors, bear in mind that beeswax has a very intense color of its own, which means that all similar colors are barely visible or not visible at all, or appear distorted.
Tip: White napkins can be customized beautifully with a dark ballpoint pen!
2. Set motif position
Carefully place the napkin part on the candle. The paper part is very thin and can tear easily!
3. Align application tool
Briefly heat a metal spoon (no sharp edges!) with the hollow side over a candle flame. Soot will settle here, but it can be easily wiped off!
4. Fix the motif
5. Finish
Continue evenly until the entire napkin motif is covered with wax and no creases are visible. Since beeswax heats up easily and cools slowly, this task is very easy to do!
6. Remain patient
Under no circumstances should you press too hard!
Candles made in this way are an unusual decoration and an original gift for family and friends.
Please note: Never wrap candles thickly with napkins—fire hazard!!!
