The included lid simply snaps into place.The varroa mite requires capped brood cells to reproduce. If the queen is confined to the trap comb pocket, she can only lay eggs there. While the rest of the brood in the colony develops and is capped, nearly all reproductive mites migrate to the few open brood cells within the pocket. By removing these “trap combs,” a large portion of the mite population is physically removed from the colony.
